There are some skiers who wait for the first snow of winter so that they can get out in the open and get rid of the chinks in their technique before the skiing season begins. However, it is important to take certain precautions to ensure there are no accidents. The first snow that falls is invariably very loose and powdery. While this is good for skiing, there is a possibility offered huge chunk of snow coming apart and creating an avalanche.

There was one such incident in California where an individual who was skiing after the first snow ended up buried under an avalanche. Of course, he had a friend who had accompanied him and was in a position to receive medical treatment. Yet, the treatment was late and he could not survive. So, does this mean you should simply avoid skiing because of the fear of avalanche?

Well, a bit of research and a bit of caution will go a long way in tackling this problem. You just have to adopt the same approach as you take when trying to determine the Enigin scam question. The first thing that you should do is to make sure that you are not alone when you are skiing. Secondly, make sure you have connectivity with the outside world. The last thing you want is to be stuck in the middle of nowhere without anybody to assist you when an avalanche occurs.

Thirdly, you should try to find out when and how avalanches occur so that you are prepared for the same. Of course, it will not be possible to anticipate the avalanche in advance. However, trying to get as much information as possible from expert skiers will always be a good thing. Finally, learn to respect your instincts. If you are not comfortable with what you see on the skiing slope, then just back out and come back another day.

My earliest memories of skiing are those of pictures in magazines of skiers whooshing down a slope and of skiers being airborne against a dazzling blue sky. It all looked so fascinating and cool that I just couldn’t wait to try my hand at it. In time I was formally introduced to the sport and took it in a big way. Given a choice, I would rather be skiing in some part of the world than enjoy a beach.

Like all sports, skiing too has an element of risk. In fact, every year, thousands of skiers the world over are involved in accidents. Most of them are grievous in nature, while quite a few are fatal. This is not to say that skiing is a dangerous sport. In fact, it has same degree of risk as, say, driving a car. Most of the risks can be mitigated if the skier takes the necessary precautions. It cannot be treated as lightly as, say, not using coat hooks to hang your jacket on when you feel lazy. Taking a hard decision to not ski when the risks are high may go a long way in prolonging the well-being of a skier. More than that, getting the appropriate pieces of skiing equipment and checking that they are in fine condition, particularly the ski bindings, are a must. Wrists and knees are the most hurt in case of a fall so make sure you have proper guards and padding for these areas. Wear clothes in layers with adjustable drawstrings to maintain body temperature. Keep your head warm and the neck covered.

Skiing calls for split second judgements and for this you need to have your wits around you. Get adequate rest before skiing and stay away from anything that will cloud your judgement the morning after. Adhering to these basic precautions, you are sure to ski safe.

Each year thousands of snowboarders worldwide head off to the slopes to get their daily fix of snow-fuelled fun. In times past all you needed was some warm clothing, a pair of boots, and a good board. What has happen now is that many modern riders tend to see technology as a must, and not just a simple addition to their equipment. To this end action cameras are now an important and common accessory with boarders as it allows them to capture each second of their ride.

Snowboarders are very interested in their meaningful memories on the slopes and whatever can be saved on camera they will save so that they can relived it over and over again. So as they drive to the regions where snowboarders go and taping footage along the way, many petrol stations will likely seek out 24 hour fuel oil suppliers in order to ensure that they are stocked appropriately to ensure no one runs out.

The progress of camera technology has made the images shot clearer of HD quality and also made the cameras smaller and therefore able to be fitted on almost anywhere on the snowboarders body or helmet. This means that riders are able to capture fantastic footage from many different angles.

Now depending on the rider’s style of riding and the perspective they want to shoot the footage from will determine where these cameras will be mounted. Here are two of the more popular options.

Goggle mounts

These are very popular with snowboarders because they are good for ‘point of view'footage. Here the cameras will be placed on both sides of the goggles to get a eye line view point.

Helmet mounts

Helmet mounts are possibly the most popular amongst snowboarders and can be had in a number of different forms. The type of camera being used and the rider’s style will determine the type of mount used. Some of the better ones come fitted with sturdy straps that can be released very easily. They may also be extended in such a way as to enable the rider to get pictures of himself when riding.

Jake Burton, the man who is credited for making snowboarding popular all over the world has been diagnosed with cancer. Thankfully, the problem is not very serious and doctors are hopeful that three months of treatment will be more than sufficient to bring him back on track. Jake Burton is the person credited for converting snowboarding into an Olympic sport. Snowboarding is very simple sport. You just need a plank of wood and lots of guts to slide down the slope.

However, the sport was viewed with disdain and the idea of offering this as a service to tourists and holiday goers was considered silly. However, Jake Burton was the pioneer who viewed the opportunity and decided to grab it with both hands. Over the years, he has setup many resorts that focused around snowboarding and others skiing sports. Not only has he succeeded in converting the sport into an Olympic sport, he is also helped other industries related to this sport get a huge boost. With the popularity of snowboarding and skiing, it is not surprising that the ski wear industry is a seeing huge demand today.

What makes his contribution to this sport to stand apart is his ability to identify the fact that people would simply love the idea of using a snowboard to go down a slope. As more and more resorts started offering this service, the idea caught on and the sport became really popular. From that point, it was just a question of time for the sport to become competitive and to attract individuals from all over the world.

But, I understand that Black Comb and Whistler are supposed to be great for snowboarding. So I am looking forward to going there someday soon.

Bridget Hall

It is said that you need a lot of bravery to become a master at snowboarding. Well, Jake Burton certainly fulfills this requirement. He gave up a steady job to promote this sport amongst the masses at a time when it was considered impossible and unattractive.

More than a hundred thousand individuals die every year due to skiing and snowboarding related injuries. Does this mean this is a dangerous sport? Well, if you are going to drink and stand on a piece of plastic and try to slide down a long snowy and icy slope, can you really blame the sport for being dangerous?

Can you call driving unsafe if bulk of the individuals who meet with accidents happen to be drunk? It is obvious that you should blame alcohol for the accident and not the act. The same rule applies to snowboarding as well. Would you not accuse a doctor of clinical negligence if he or she conducts an operation in an inebriated condition? In the same way, can you blame the sport when the individual has not grasped the basics of the sport and has attempted the same in an intoxicated condition?

This is a reason why you should consider doing your homework and research first. Nobody likes to focus on the theoretical aspect of any sport. Most of them can find it boring. On the other hand, those who bite the bullet and study the theoretical aspects discover many useful tips.

From certain basic mistakes that one should avoid to the importance of regular practice-you can find all such lessons in the theoretical aspects. What is more, you will not feel like a complete idiot when you are trying the sport. When you know the basics, you simply have to attempt to implement the theoretical aspect in real life. This should not be very difficult if you are prepared to work hard for it.

So summer is well and truly here. How depressing. Unlike most of my friends who are only happy when the sun is shining and they can head for the beer garden after work or the beach at weekends, I tend to get very grumpy around this time of year as I know it’s still several months until my precious skiing season starts up again.

I know there is summer skiing in many parts of Europe now, but the slopes are so much harder to get to, and not as good as the winter downhills when you do finally get there, that I long ago gave up on trekking for miles to get to a tiny glacier, just for a couple of hours of cross-country skiing. I’d probably just rather go to my local dry ski slope if I need a fix, even if it’s nowhere near as good as the real thing!

So I settle for flicking through travel brochures, looking at new resorts and destinations online; meticulously planning my first ski trip of the winter so it’s absolutely perfect. Oh, and I make sure I stay in shape so that I’m ready to strap on my skis and head for the hills as soon as I get there! Skiing can be a punishing sport, so it’s important that you try and stay fit during the off season. I just got myself a great new pair of Mizuno running shoes, and have been hitting the streets hard almost every night. My friend even dragged me along to her yoga class, which I have to admit was pretty punishing, despite my initial reservations. All in all, I should be well and truly ready to go when that first flake of snow hits the ground!

A visit to Italy is considered incomplete if you do not pay a visit to its beautiful skiing destinations. While Italy makes for a pretty sight during summers, it presents an even better picture during winters, especially with its snow-capped mountains reflecting just the right amount of sunlight to keep you warm.

Skiing is a fun activity that you can undertake with your entire family. You do not necessarily have to be a pro at the sport. And if you are still reluctant, wearing skis will certainly put you into the mood for some action.

Here are some skiing resorts in Italy you can visit to make your stay worthwhile:

Selva Valgardena

The ski resort is located near the edge of Sella Massif and is connected to Sella Ronda. Sella Valgardena is considered one of the best places for skiing, especially because of the picturesque scenery it offers to its visitors.

Passo Tonale

Pass Tonale is a pocket-friendly resort that is visited by families throughout the year. A fairly crowded resort, this place is open almost throughout the year. It also has a great connectivity to the Presena, where one can indulge in lots of skiing.

Val di Fiemme

This resort, located in the northern region, of Italy is part of the Dolomites peaks. You can indulge in a lot of skiing activities such as night skiing, snowboarding, iceskating, etc. The Dolomites, which are considered one of the most beautiful peaks in the whole of Italy, lend an even more attractive sight to the Val Di Fiemme resort.

Cortina d’Ampezzo

Cortina d’Ampezzo is packed with tourists throughout the year. This resort has such alluring sights that one does not even have to even indulge in skiing to have fun here. The skiing resort is suitable for intermediates and beginners.

So, this year book your tickets for Italy and leave your worries about inflation and rising prices of red diesel Kent behind!

Are you ready to make your winter wardrobe fashionable? If yes this article is for you. Gone are those days where skiing and snowboarding tracks and clothing are boring and shabby. These days fashion has even entered into the white snows. Nowadays snow – inspired fashion are common. New fashionable styles, brands, trends and technologies are bringing fashion back to the mountain tops. Trendy jackets, colorful helmets, and beautiful pants will make you look great at the same time keep you warm on the snowy White Mountains. You can find jackets with slim fits that suite your personal style. If you are fashionable at the same time an adventurous person who loves to ski and snowboard make sure you enroll yourself in kit insurance which covers the things you value the most.

If you are bold and trendy you can try multi colored jackets that will separate you from the rest of crowd and make you really fashionable and stylish. You can even try some bright colors that will make you stand out of the snow. Jackets with animal prints and fun patterns are a must to have in this season.

Now lets face the fact if you wear jeans on the snowy slopes you will became a material of laughter for others. The snows will ensure you end the day freezing and wet. So a piece of advice here, purchase snow pants that are lighter and breathable. Your pant should be water-resistant and at the same time comfortable. It’s always fun to look good while you ski on snow. However safety is equally important. Fashion that comes along with safety and comfort is the need of the hour.A

Italian slopes are best known for offering high quality skiing experience. The worth of the Italian slopes is held in high regard by many popular skiers. It’s a fact that Italy has produced several world famous skiers, and all of them attest to the quality of skiing in the country. Italy has been the proud organizer of the Winter Olympic Games as well. When it comes to selecting the best ski destination in Italy, the most popular Italian ski resorts are the obvious choice, most of which are found in the Alpine and the Dolomites peak of the Valle d’Aosta.

Skiing in Italy has a lot to offer. For the expert skiers, the Aosta Valley ski area that includes a total of about 180 individual pistes and wonderful panoramic views will be the best bet. The Aosta Valley life pass offers access to ski resorts of the Courmayeur, Pila, Etroubles, Breuil Cervina, Crevacol, Saint-Rhemu-en Bosses, La Thuile and Alagna Valsesia. The area includes pistes of above 2500 metres or so. The best skiing experience is assured all season. Among the ski resorts, Courmayeur includes the best reputation of any popular Italian ski resort and it is located at the foot of the Mont Blanc.

Santa Caterina is a name of a beautiful village which has much to provide for those seeking a much more traditional ambiance. The pistes include something for all abilities, although the experienced or seasoned skiers will be less well served than the intermediates or beginners. This is one of the best ski schools and it is scenic like any other ski resorts in Italy.

Cortina d’Ampezzo with its wooded slopes and pastures rising from the valley up to 2000 meters and an additional 1000 meters of spires, crags and cliffs of pink limestone makes the entire area a scenic one. Cortina offers the most spectacular views of the peaks. Most skiing is not at all difficult except for south facing couloir of the Forcella Staunies. The other well known resorts are Cortin that has hosted the 1956 Winter Olympics and the Madonna Di Campiglio.

If you think going to these places would need you to be a Hollywood star like Orlando Bloom or a successful wealth manager like Rowan Dartington then you are mistaken because you will get accommodation that is easy on the pockets.
