What is legal philosophy?

ALPSA is a society for students and young professionals from all disciplines who are interested in the idea of law. We seek to encourage and facilitate discussion about the nature of law, legal reasoning, legal responsibility, and the legal process, not just from a traditional legal perspective but from a variety of different perspectives, whether historical, political or economic. To this end we organise essay competitions, publications and seminars on the many and varied issues relating to the philosophy of law.
ALPSA was founded in 2004 by Max Del Mar, a law and philosophy graduate of the University of Queensland. Since its extensive launching program in 2005 ALPSA has continued to focus on its annual essay competition and in 2008 will be launching a new series of competitions and seminars.
